Tall ships Event, Greenock 2011

A view down the dock

Sail training ship 'TS Royalist'

French tall ship 'Mutin'

In the distance you can see a couple of the Navy's 'Coastal Training Crafts' these ships have links to Univertsities such as Glasgow. Their role is to 'educate and inform' Undergraduates. Most of them have a top speed of 20 knots with the exception of 'Raider' and 'Tracker' which have a higher speed of 24 knots.

In this picture you can see 'Kingdom of Fife' which belongs to Briggs Marine. They recently won a contract with serco worth £100m to support buoy maintenance and moorings for the Royal Navy for the next 15 years. Behind it you can see serco's own vessel SD Newton which is now out of service. The new vessel to replace her is called SD Victoria.

It wouldn't be me.

This rather magnificent tall ship, is one I have fogotten details about from the photo you can see the last part of it's name is 'Mlodziezy' any information about this ship and where it is from would be appreciated.

This one, I do remember, is called 'Christian Radich' and was built in 1937. It's From Norway and is 73 meters long.

Some local eye-soars

Innellan looks lovely on a sunny day, but put a burnt out post office in the picture and it's not so lovely anymore.

Innellan tennis club is in need of a new club house as the current one is falling to pieces.

In the bottom right hand corner of this picture you can see McColls hotel. With it's windows covered up with metal it certainly adds the 'rundown' tag to Dunoon

Tennis anyone?

Empty Tennis courts at Castle Tennis club last Sunday (3rd July). I think most people fled to the beach on this wonderfully sunny day!

Dunoon

A view of (a rather unusually) sunny Dunoon. Taken from Innellan on the 3rd of July.

Spiegelgracht

MV Argyll passing container ship Spiegelgracht on the 1st of July. Taken from (a rather not so sandy) sandy beach at Innellan.

Waverley

Paddle steamer Waverley passing Innellan on her way back from Rothesay.
